non-mainstream representations of women in media.

Image
1) Orange is the new black. Although this show may be mainstream, the variety of women that is shown in this show is rarly shown in any form of media. this is a show where many types of women straight, gay, violent, masculine, all types of athinities. They might all be in prison, but they show how any type of women can be strong and brilliant. 2) Drag Kings. https://youtu.be/uK98jrF_0Og Drag Kings rarly seem to turn up in any form of media, their cross-dressing, male counter parts, Drag Queens, on the other hand can be seen accross many forms of soical media, espically on youtube. the culture of drag can seem quite nurmerous, but Drag Queens are often the ones showcased when this happens. maybe it is more exciting to see a man dress as a women, then a women dressed as man, but I could image that giving a women a beard shows just as much talent in a person who is giving a man breasts.

Confrontational role model

Confrontational role model in a visual media text: Cat Grant played by Calista Flockhart in the TV show Supergirl. Cat Grant in the TV show super girl is a good example of a Confrontational role model, as she often sparks inspiration and strength in her fellow characters with brutal honesty.

Relational role model

Relational Role models. In a visual media text: Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle/cat women in the TV show Gotham)   Cameron Bicondova can been seen as a relational role model as she is the same age as a lot of people, or in this case people my age (16), so in this way, despite being in a TV show and a professional dancer (which many teens aspire to, but very few get this opportunity), but as she is 16 she will possibly be going through what a lot of teens go through, things such as exams, school and puberty.

Aspirational role model in media:

Aspirational role model in a printed media text: Malala Yousafzai Malala Yousafzai is an inspirational young women who has stood up for women's rights all around the world, and the right to have a good education. Malala has won the Nobel prize, written a book, met Queen Elizabeth II and President Obama, all at the age of 18. Aspirational role model in a visual media text: Zoe Sugg (Zoella) Video: My Everyday make up routine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNidbHZBPxU Zoe Sugg, also known as Zoella on her YouTube channel, is an aspirational role model as she at the age of 25 has 10 million YouTube subscribers, written a book, sprang up a beauty line, she has been the "digital ambassador" for Mind, the mental health charity. She may have done different things from Malala but she is just as inspirational, especially to young girls who watches her videos, make up or other wise.
